According to the ACSI, private Christian schools should fund their annual budget with 80% tuition and 20% fundraising. Cadillac Heritage Christian School’s budget reflects 70% tuition and 30% fundraising. In recent years, we have adopted the practice that we will not try to “sell” you something in order to raise funds. CHCS provides three opportunities to raise the needed funds to balance our budget. These are in addition to charitable contributions.

TRIP stands for Tuition Reduction Incentive Program. CHCS operates a Scrip program through Great Lakes Scrip Company. This means that the school purchases Scrip (gift cards) for various businesses at a discount and people purchase those cards from the school at face value. The gift cards spend just like cash. The difference between our cost and face value is profit to the school. Fifty percent of that profit automatically goes into the General Fund as “fundraising” and families have the option to apply the other fifty percent to their own tuition or to fundraising. This program is easy to use and doesn’t require the user to spend money they are not already spending. Scrip can be used for groceries, gasoline, restaurants, gifts, travel, etc. Extended family, friends and neighbors are able to use the program as well. This is a nationwide program and there is an online presence to enable ordering, payment and the ability to print your own scrip or use it as an e-card. There is no limit on how much can be raised with this program.

Hoops and Loops
This event takes place in October every year. All students (Y5-12th grade) are involved by either shooting 100 free throws (Hoops) or walking/running laps around the gym (Loops). The students gather pledges or flat donations to participate. Donors/Sponsors make a contribution to the school based upon how many hoops or loops their sponsored students accomplish. This is a fun afternoon for all students and a highlight of their school year.
In March, during Reading Month, there is a week set aside for our Read-a-Thon. This is a pledge driven event much like Hoops and Loops. All students (Y5-12th grade) participate. Sponsors contribute based on number of pages or books read during a specified time. Flat donations are also acceptable. Where Hoops and Loops puts the focus on the physical being, the Read-a-Thon allows students to shine in other ways.
